Dear Sir,

I would ask all those wishing to save our setts to take a walk down the road to Highgate. There, they will see setts in their proper setting (if I may be excused a pun) – period houses and setts providing a splendid approach to the Minster.

The setts in Saturday Market are completely out of character, and go nowhere. There are many sites in our historic town which would be enhanced by laying setts. The Market Cross, for example, deserves such a setting.

Relocate Our Setts! In their present location, they are only cobbles, bits of stone.
