Y6 children from primary schools outside the Driffield School catchment area were recently invited to a special event where they had the opportunity to find out more about Driffield School and what it’s like on an average day in secondary school.

Organised as part of the school’s Y6 transition programme, the Y6 OOC Event was attended by 19 children from schools including Boynton, Beeford, Lockington, Warter, Martongate, Hilderthorpe, Bay and Burlington.

They all got the chance to attend some proper lessons, enjoy lunch in the school canteen, take a tour of the school site and experience playtime mixing with Driffield School students.

Community Engagement Manager, Mrs Collinson, commented: “Moving from Y6 into Y7 can be a worrying time for children, especially if they’re coming from a relatively small primary to one of the largest school sites in the East Riding.

“The aim of the Y6 OOC Event was to give them a taste of life at Driffield School & Sixth Form and help them feel more confident about moving here next September.”
