Two men from Scarborough have been charged with criminal damage after an incident in the town centre last year.

In the early hours of November 8 2019, the town's Christmas tree which was outside the Brunswick Centre was pulled down.

The six-metre-high metal structure had been a key part of the Countdown to Christmas event and the annual Christmas light switch on was due to take place that evening.

It was later replaced with a smaller, real tree.

The two men, 20 and 29, due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates Court next month.
