Scarborough rogue trader who breached health and safety regulation ordered to pay almost £30,000 in costs

Paul Golding, of Queen Margaret’s Road, was sentenced to 18 months after being found guilty of breaching general duty to persons other than an employee, contravening a prohibition notice and two counts of breaching a health and safety regulation, during a trial at York Crown Court last month.

A jury heard how the 62-year-old, who has 19 previous convictions, had been barred from carrying out gas work by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

However, on November 14 and 15, 2015, Golding attended a property in Scarborough where he installed a boiler.

He will now have to pay £28,129.70 in prosecution costs.
