ANGRY Driffield residents are calling for firmer police action as teen vandals continue to cause damage and disruption on their doorsteps.
Elderly residents on Southfield Road are concerned for their safety and the upkeep of their neighbourhood after witnessing a group of youngsters repeatedly kicking street lamps, jumping on cars, turning over wheelie bins and shouting bad language in
the street.
A 61-year-old Southfield Road resident, who does not wish to be named, said: “They have been jumping on our car and we have to park on the side of the road because we don’t have a garage up here. Our wheelie bin was kicked over and they have been looking through our windows with torches.”
The pensioner first reported the incidents to Driffield police over three weeks ago and is disappointed at the response to date: “It’s been happening since before Christmas.
“We first reported it on December 12 and two community policewomen came up and took some details and said they would be in touch but we haven’t heard anything else.
“When it was snowing the kids were throwing snowballs filled with stones at our houses. We are all fed up with it really.”
According to the concerned resident similar incidents have been reported to the police on at least four separate occasions but a patrol car has been seen in the area just once.
She added: “We have reported it many times and it takes about 15 minutes to explain over and over the same things.”
At the time of going to press a spokesman for Driffield police was unavailable for comment.
