WHAT a fantastic response to our Caring Christmas Appeal - you certainly did made a difference.
Thanks to the generosity of businesses and readers of the Driffield Times, Driffield Post and Beverley Guardian, Age Concern East Riding of Yorkshire were able to distribute more than 400 Christmas hampers or a gift voucher to older people.

Some of the hampers and gift vouchers were distributed to older people whose homes had been flooded during the summer, and others were taken by a number of local organisations to older people on their own.
Many individuals personalised their hampers with a personal gift for the recipient and included a Christmas card.

The charity has received many letters of thanks from those who received the hampers.

One wrote to say: "It has been a very difficult year and receiving the hamper made me realise people were thinking of us."

Another said: "Receiving the hamper has really boosted my morale; I hope I will be back in my home soon."

Age Concern East Riding of Yorkshire has thanked all who donated hampers, and it is hoped that many more people and local businesses will get involved in our appeal in 2008.
