Ready for a challenge?
SCHOOLS have been fast to sign up to this year’s Rock Challenge with limited spaces now left.
Humberside Police Rock Challenge has re-launched for 2013 and within 24 hours of the application form going live, 46 schools had signed up to be part of the performing arts competition.
To date, only have four spaces are left for schools to be part of the Hull and East Riding Junior heat to be staged at the Bridlington Spa on February 21, while the Hull Junior event to be held at the Hull Arena is now full to capacity. Last year Rock Challenge attracted 3,118 students in the Humberside Police region performing to a combined audience of 4,906 guests.
Organisers are aiming to do the same again in 2013.
The Humberside Police Youth Engagement Team and local Police Officers work closely with their schools to help promote the ethos behind the competition as well as getting to know local young people though such a positive and vibrant project.
Supt Samantha Manning, Head of the Community Safety Unit for Humberside Police, said: “Rock Challenge is an innovative event which assists in providing a diversion from drugs. Events such as these illustrate that there is so much young people have to offer that is positive.”
