MY son was recently presented with his British Citizenship at the Guildhall in Beverley. I have a photograph of this auspicious occasion, portraying him with his certificate standing next to a portrait of Queen Elizabeth.
This all sounds very good, but the patrons of the Guildhall deem it unnecessary to show due respect to Her Majesty and just prop her portrait against a chair leg!

What are they thinking? I have bent over backwards and been stuffed at every turn in my attempts to formalise citizenship for my children, and have been thwarted at every turn by the beaurocratic bull existent in the British legal system. Now to find that after my son has jumped through ALL the hoops to prove that he is worthy of being a British citizen, the powers that be in the Guildhall prove that they are not worthy.

Perhaps we should hand over our local authorities to those of Zimbabwe, perhaps they will show more respect.
