EVERYONE would agree with your headline 'Town needs high quality venues to cater for everybody.

In T Wall's letter under that headline, he/she suggests there are plenty of church, school and parish halls available.

I would like to know which of these could, or would, have the space and easy access for many of the events held at the Memorial Hall.

You can make bookings there for mornings afternoon and evenings, seven days a week, which those listed do not.

It isn't only concerts, theatre and dance which need plenty of pre-preparation time – so do the pantos, plays given by local amateurs, the fundraising fairs etc – yet they manage to book in advance.

The hall's booking plan can't hold a few empty spots in case someone wants to find a date free - that's loss of income. Concert promoters need to get their skates on and compete with the rest of us.
