AUDIENCES are invited to take a journey through the ups and downs of married life in the forthcoming Hull Truck production of Honeymoon Suite.
The show, which takes a peek through the keyhole in a Bridlington hotel, is to be premiered this month at the theatre.

Written by Hull-born playwright Richard Bean, Honeymoon Suite tells the story of Eddie and Irene at various stages in their lives: from hopeful teenage newlyweds and through the struggle that is married life.

The bittersweet comedy tells of the couple’s dream of getting away from their mundane fishing backgrounds and building a new life - an ambition that could tear them apart. Add on top of that an affair and the threat of a manslaughter charge and it is plain to see their marriage is far from plain sailing.

Honeymoon Suite, directed by Gareth Tudor Price, features a cast of six actors, who play the same couple at the three different stages of their lives – often all on stage at once.

Among the line-up is Marc Pickering, who was chosen to play Young Masbath alongside Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow.

His other film roles include Gaz in Calendar Girls and Sam in I Want Candy. Acclaimed actors Roy North, Christine Cox and Martin Barrass return with Meriel Scholfield and Thea Rowland, stars of Hull Truck’s recent festive production, Blue Cross Xmas.

This year is the last in which the spring-summer season will be held at Hull Truck’s Spring Street venue before its new theatre on Ferensway will open in spring 2009.

Honeymoon Suite will be performed at Hull Truck Theatre from Thursday February 28 until Saturday March 22.

To book tickets visit www.hulltruck.co.uk or call the box office on (01482) 323638.
