We have just visited the Crown and Anchor for the first time. There were 5 of us for 'tea'. The landlady and her dad went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The meal was great, pub grub but well cooked, well presented and well priced. We are considering buying a house in Tickton and look forward to using it as our local. Well recommended!

We have been here several times since the new couple, Christine and Kevin, took over and it's lovely. They are very welcoming and the food has been very good, if you go on Mondays it is 2 for 1 on grills and we had 2 excellent rump steaks last time we went. It's a pity they are not busier as they really do deserve to be, the place is cosy, warm, clean and nicely decorated. It's unfortunate for them that the place has changed hands several times in the last few years and the reputation had suffered as a result. They also have a pool table, not so many pubs have now. Go on a sunny evening and sit outside by the river and watch the sunset, glorious!

Sorry Marge68 I do not agree I have used the Crown & Anchor as my local for sometime now and our party of twelve had booked for our Christmas dinner 2011. What a mistake and a disapointment to say the least . Marge68 stated " good food great atmoshere " come on Marge there is more atmoshere on the moon ! ( may I ask are you employed by crown & anchor ?) the pub was not even full it was not as if they were serving lots of tables and could not cope . As our children commented " the school dinners are better and you receive more " this meal was terrible from the starters to the mains to the puddings. I felt sorry for the girl serving when clearly the kitchen was letting her down she did her best to appologise time after time again . we were told with a smile " please enjoy your food " two of the party had not even recieved there food ! the rest of the party had waited but had to start as now most of the food was going cold .. The only thing warm about the soup was the plate it was served on. The bread rolls were warmed up in a microwave and hard only the bone crushing power of a Hyena could have ate them ! The so called stuffing balls were the size of a golf ball with a unbreakable crust a pile driver would have had trouble getting through it .. Believe me I could go on and on very very disapointed from a pub I have classed as my local very poor microwave food and when we approched the landlady we were told these meals are set by Marstons Brewery ?? This was a Christmas day dinner and we expected for the amount of money paid a far better standard of food . If I can offer any advice it would eat elsewhere as there are far superior places to eat within only a few miles of the Crown and Anchor .
