Volunteers wanted for allotments association
The Beverley Gardens and Allotments Association was formed in 1959 with the aim of promoting reasonably-priced garden materials.
The association’s store is open for trade every Sunday morning at premises adjacent to the Beverley railway station. Hours of opening are from 10am to 12noon.
Subscription is £1.50 per annum (January to December).
We are able to purchase seeds and garden materials in bulk at discount prices, which are then passed on to members at a saving in cost.
The main dates in the year to look out for are:
January - seed potatoes.
March - AGM.
October - Dobies catalogues.
In order to keep the association afloat, it is always on the look out for volunteer helpers.
Jobs involve working behind the counter and helping in the weighing up and carry of stock. Volunteers will be given a 10 per cent discount on all purchases.
New committee members are also welcome; the committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Beverley Catholic Club, Station Square.
If you would like more information about the association, or becoming a volunteer helper, please contact the secretary on 01482 882411.
