Cancer advice on the road
01/08/11: MacMillan Bus, Chesterfield.
Macmillan Cancer Support’s mobile information service has launched its new bright green bus tour for 2012.
The team welcomes anyone with a question or concern about cancer, no matter how small, to step on board for a confidential chat or just to pick up some information leaflets. No appointment is necessary and the service is completely free of charge.
The bus will be situated in Queen Victoria Square in Hull between 10am and 4pm on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 February, and moves along to Saturday Market in Beverley on Wednesday 8 February.
Helen Tuvey, Macmillan lead information support specialist, said: “Our Macmillan information team can answer any concern about cancer, including information about treatments, side effects, benefits advice and what support is available locally.
“We’re here for anyone affected by cancer – those with a cancer diagnosis, friends, relatives and carers.”
In 2011, more than 26,000 people stepped on board the team’s two buses, which cover the North of England and the East Midlands.
The buses visit towns, cities, events, universities, workplaces and community venues.
For further details about future visits, visit www.macmillan.org.uk/mobile.
If you would like cancer information and advice, but cannot visit the mobile team, call the Macmillan support line free on 0808 808 00 00 (Monday to Friday, 9am–8pm).
