A PUBLIC inquiry opened this week into controversial plans for a 12-turbine wind farm which objectors claim would spoil one of the best loved views of Beverley.
A Government inspector is considering an appeal by Ridgewind Ltd against East Riding Council's refusal to grant planning consent for the proposed development .

The company wants to site the 100-metre turbines on land north of Hall Farm at Routh. But East Riding Council turned down its planning application, amid fears that the giant turbines will spoil the view of Beverley from the Westwood.

The scheme sparked protests from several parish councils in the area, including Tickton and Routh, and Beverley.

The inquiry into the company's appeal to the Planning Inspectorate is being held at East Riding Council's offices at Main Street, Skirlaugh and is expected to continue until July 11.
