COUNCILS will assume responsibility for stray dogs from April.
East Riding Council says people will no longer be able to take stray dogs to the local police station, but will be directed to the council’s dog warden service which will make arrangements to collect the animal.

The council operates a collection service for strays held by members of the public, which operates from 8am to 9pm daily and can be reached by calling 08457 887700.
