Norwood House welcomes MP
BEVERLEY MP Graham Stuart has been given a guided tour of historic Norwood House in Beverley, ahead of a crucial council meeting which will consider its future.
As reported in the Beverley Guardian, the Grade 1 listed building is due to be considered by members of East Riding council cabinet later this month.
Campaigners are urging the council, which owns the building, to delay for at least six months a decision on whether to sell it on the open market. They want more time to secure pledges of financial support to save the building for community use.
Mr Stuart said: "East Riding Council has done a good job slowing down the deterioration of the building but it cannot be left unresolved for too much longer.
"I hope that a plan can be developed which will ensure public access and allow the town to benefit from this unique building in the same way that Bristol, Edinburgh and York have benefited from outstanding Georgian properties in their cities."
