EAST Riding College student Alex Fletcher is appealing for sponsors as he prepares to run the Edinburgh Marathon on May 25 in aid of the MS Society.
Alex (19), of Beverley, whose grandmother Jean Arnold suffers from multiple sclerosis, is hoping to raise more than £500 for the charity

His friend Rainer Iveson, with whom he will be running the marathon, suggested the charity challenge.

Alex said: “I felt really helpless about my grandma’s condition and Rainer said I should try raising some money for charity. The MS Society does a lot of great work to help people with MS and to fund research into the condition, so I’m hoping to beat my £500 target.

“I’d be grateful for any sponsorship from people or businesses which will help this wonderful charity provide life-saving equipment and nurses.”

Alex is in the second year of a level three BTEC National Diploma in Sports Development and Fitness, at East Riding College’s Beverley site.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Alex can contact him on tel 07908 794242 or email him at alexfletch@hotmail.co.uk.
