Plan approved
PLANS for a new toilet and shower block at a Brandesburton caravan site have been backed by East Riding councillors. The scheme on the site south of Cheyne Lodge on Starcarr Lane in the village was given the go-ahead by the authority’s eastern area sub-committee this week.

Handbag stolen

AN 88-year-old Cherry Burton woman had her handbag stolen in the Morrisons supermarket in Beverley at around 2.45pm on Monday. It is of navy blue leather with a stiff gilt strap, and contained cash cards, personal items and a quantity of cash.

Sat-nav winner

THE winner of the Beverley Guardian competition to win a sat-nav system from Beverley Car & Cycles was Martin Pantry, of Lowfield Road, Beverley.

Cat frees itself

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a trapped cat in the grounds of Beverley Westwood Hospital last Friday evening, but when they arrived it had freed itself.

Pentecost

A PENTECOST service will be held at Toll Gavel United Church on Sunday May 11, at which the congregation have been asked to wear something red, yellow or orange.
