A BUS rally may not be something that you would expect to see at an aviation museum, but following a successful inaugural event held in September last year, the Routemaster Owners Club (ROC) are once again holding a Northern bus rally here at the Yorkshire Air Museum.
This event will take place on Sunday from 10am.

So far, 29 vehicles have been pre-entered, well up on the 18 initially registered last year, and if the weather holds, numbers could swell significantly. It will no doubt provide a fine spectacle, wi
th a good showing of the iconic Routemaster 'London' red Double Decker bus.

The ROC have purposely opened the entry to other makes and there will be a good variety of makes for classic bus enthusiasts and the general public to enjoy.

Some of these will actually be running on the day, giving an opportunity for people to enjoy a trip into York, no doubt raising some puzzled eyebrows to city visitors.

Museum spokesman, Ian Richardson, said: "We are delighted that through the Yorkshire Air Museum, York has become the destination for this gathering of classic buses, as there is no such event between Milton Keynes and Scotland! It provides a great opportunity for owners and enthusiasts in the north of England to gather in this historic site to display and admire these vehicles and give our visitors something unusual to enjoy as well as all the other fascinating exhibitions and historic aircraft collection."

The event starts at 10am and admission is just £5 adults, £4 senior citizens and £3 children, which includes admission to both the museum and the rally.

The buses will be displayed within the museum site, providing good photo opportunities for both visitors and the media.
