DRIFFIELD Methodist Church will be filled with the sound of more than 100 male voices when four choirs join together to stage a charity concert next month.
The event, which will take place on Saturday October 11, is being hosted by the Driffield Male Voice Choir as part of its commitment to the continued development of male voice choral singing.
Joining the Driffield choir are the Eastwood Collieries Choir from Nottingham, the W.A Shearings Featherstone Male Voice Choir and the Harrogate Male Voice Choir.
Under the musical direction of the internationally renowned choral coach and conductor Marilynne Davies, the choirs will take part in a full day choral workshop followed in the evening by a charity concert in aid of Diabetes UK.
Concert manager Paul Brereton was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes over 15 years ago.
He said: "This is the first time an event like this has been held in Driffield and we are delighted that Marilynne will be joining us. The concert will showcase some of the region's best vocal talents and it is sure to be an enjoyable evening.
"Diabetes is a condition that affects so many people – nearly 13,000 in the East Riding region alone. Diabetes UK does a great job in raising awareness of the condition and providing help and advice to people who are affected by it. We're proud to be able to support the vital work the charity does."
The concert will also feature two young East Riding of Yorkshire soloists; Thomas Bertollotti, a 15-year-old national award wining cellist, and Lucia Walsh-Hughes an 18-year-old soprano.
The concert starts at 7pm (doors open at 6.15pm) at Driffield Methodist Church, Middle Street North, Driffield. Tickets are £5 and are available from Sokells in Driffield, Driffield Male Voice Choir Members or Tel. 01377 255924.
