ONE of the folk music scene's best loved performers, Vin Garbutt, returns to the Processed Pea at the Light Dragoon in Etton on Tuesday July 1, at 8.30pm.
Vin's songwriting is witty and powerful, he is also an accomplished guitarist and a fine whistle player. As The Man of British Folk Music he has toured the US, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Yugoslavia, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Fra
nce, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Cyprus, Singapore, Thailand and Bermuda, as well as all corners of the UK.

Although he is regularly seen at folk clubs and festivals his work has been admired by many in other musical genres.

Trevor Burton, of The Move fame, saw him perform and handed a tape to Alan Whetton, of Dexy's Midnight Runners. Whetton went to see him perform and he became an instant fan and demanded to produce his next two albums, When the Tide Turns and The Bypass Syndrome.

Alan easily persuaded a number of rock names to play on these albums, including Robbie McIntosh, of The Paul McCartney Band.

Vin continues to have one of the busiest working schedules in the business.

Processed Pea organiser Martin Peirson said: "We've had to wait our turn to get him back to Etton, his diary is always full. The description 'unique' is often overused, but it really does apply to Vin. He can have you crying with laughter one minute, then hit you with a thought-provoking song the next. You really do have to see him to experience what he is all about."

Tickets £10 are available in advance from Beverley Tourist Information Centre and Costcutter in Cherry Burton. For telephone reservations or more information ring 01430 810669, or email martin@peirson.karoo.co.uk.
