EAST will meet West next weekend as the new season of concerts hosted by the Driffield and Wolds Concert Society gets under way.
Top Russian violinist Yuri Zhislin will play the music of Sir Edward Elgar at the concert in All Saints Church, Nafferton next Saturday, October 4, starting at 7.30pm.

The concert had originally been scheduled to take place last season, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Elgar’s birth, but had to be re-arranged after Yuri became ill.

The evening will also include music by Kreisler and Dushkin, while actor Edward Halsted will read extracts from some of Elgar’s letters.

Tickets for the concert are priced at £10.50, including wine and a programme.

They can be bought from Geoff Hall, tel (01377) 272617, or on the door.
