THE Friends of American Old Time Music and Dance are hosting their annual spring meeting for the May Day bank holiday weekend.
Musicians and dancers will converge on Sewerby Hall where they will take part in spontaneous performances.

This is the fourth year the event will take place at the hall and its popularity is growing, according to the group.

John Yeaman, spokesperson for the FOAOTMAD, said: "Everyone is really looking forward to it. We invite people to hear and play music that has gone across the pond and returned with a difference."

There will be more than 50 musicians and four dance teams taking part with lessons on Appalachian Dance in the Orangery.

Members of the public are welcome to join in and ask questions on how to play or dance.

The spring meeting will start on Saturday May 3 and run until Monday May 5. There will be no set programme of events.

Admission will be £4 for adults, £3.20 for over 60s and £2 for children with under 5s admitted free.
