THE Pipe and Glass Inn in South Dalton has won a top regional award.
The restaurant was named as best newcomer at the 2008 Northern Hospitality Awards.

The awards, which took place at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester, recognise, reward and celebrate the very best in the north of England. Hundreds of entries were whittled down to just nine winners.

The Pipe and Glass Inn beat off four others shortlisted from around the north to bring the award to East Yorkshire.

Chef James Mackenzie, who with his partner Kate Boroughs took over the Pipe and Glass in March 2006, said: "It is fantastic to win an award like this.

"It shows that all our, and our staff's, hard work and commitment is putting the Pipe and Glass and East Yorkshire on the map."
