The fluctuating cost of fuel is an ever present news item which shows no sign of abating. However, York-based Persimmon has a solution to help drive down these costs - and the answer lies closer to home than you think.
Enter the contemporary-designed three storey - a property that features plenty of flexible living space which can easily incorporate a dedicated home office.

The benefits of working from home have been well documented - not only are you able to av
oid the rush hour traffic and getting embroiled in office politics, but with drivers feeling the financial squeeze with cars becoming more expensive to run, this way of working could be one way to beat spiralling prices at the pumps.

Karen Harrowell, sales director for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, commented: "More people are now choosing to work from home, whether it is for a couple of days a month or every day of the week as with the ever-increasing use of the internet and email at home, people no longer need to go to the office every day.

"Many people turn to teleworking to escape the stresses of commuting to work.

"However, with the cost of fuel at a premium, indeed the cost of unleaded petrol has risen by 20 per cent in Britain over the past year, motorists are beginning to realise that they have to change their behaviour in response to the sharp price rises.

"Working from home boasts many plus points - it cuts out unnecessary travelling, therefore easing the financial pressure on the purse strings, and is also much kinder to the environment."

The serious home worker needs more than just a computer base and screen and setting up an efficient home office requires lots of careful planning which is why for reservations until July 31, Persimmon is offering selected three-storey properties with £1,000 worth of office furniture.

Karen concludes: "Whilst it may take some getting used to, working from home can also improve your work-life balance.

"Using the space in your home effectively to separate your working area from your living space is the first step and three storey homes are perfect for achieving this."

Persimmon is currently creating new communities in Bedale, Bridlington, Brough, Driffield, Easingwold, Kingswood, Knaresborough, Hessle, Hull, Market Weighton, Pocklington, Selby, Sherburn in Elmet, Thirsk, Withernsea and York.
