CONTRACTORS have started work to carry out minor repairs to a Driffield railway bridge. Workers from Amco Construction, who are carrying out the repairs on behalf of Network Rail, have moved into the area off Chestnut Avenue.
Site managers have said the works are intended to ensure the bridge is kept up to standard and that it remains sound.

Senior general foreman, Marvin Walker, said the programme is to see a number of large stones installed in a bid to deflect the water flow away from the base of the bridge. Some underwater repairs are also set to be carried out.

A spokesman for Northern Rail told the Driffield Times that they were not expecting services to be disrupted because of the work.
