A GLOBAL grain and oilseed seminar with a keynote speaker from across the Atlantic has been held in Driffield.
The seminar, covering issues such as global grain and oilseed outlook as well as price risk management, was organised by the Hull Corn and Feed Trade Association and held at Driffield Rugby Club on Wednesday.

Stuart Crowe, director of the Hull Corn and Feed Trade Association, said the aim of the seminar was to give members a global overview of market trends, something which is particularly important in light of recent fluctuations in the price of wheat.

Mr Crowe said: “Over the last two years we have seen the price of wheat in the UK go from £60 a ton to £180 a ton and back down to £90 a ton.

“It’s been a real rollercoaster ride.”

Rob Fisher, managing director of International Agribusiness Group (AIG) presented an analysis of current industry trends and commodity prices, including his predictions for the future, while HGCA grain trader Martyn Worden gave a presentation on this year’s harvest and price risk management.
