STAFF and pupils at Molescroft Primary School are celebrating after it was described as an 'outstanding' school in its Ofsted inspection.
The inspector who visited last month described it is an outstanding school that provides excellent value for money.
Mrs Lynne Read said Molescroft had a deservedly high reputation and a very strong profile in the community. Parents had exceptionally positive views, praising the 'fantastic, broad, exciting and challenging education', and they say their children are very happy at the school.
Mrs Read said the pupils' learning is outstanding because they are extremely well taught.
She also described the curriculum and the personal development and well-being of pupils as outstanding.
Mrs Read said that standards at the school are significantly above average by year 6, from a broadly average starting point on entry to the school.
Pupil achievement is outstanding and they make excellent progress through Key Stages 1 and 2.
She also praised the leadership of headteacher Mike Loncaster, saying he is held in great esteem by pupils, staff, governors and parents and promotes very strong teamwork among the talented and hard-working staff.
In a letter to the pupils following her visit, Mrs Read says they are keen to learn, work hard and are making excellent progress.
"Molescroft Primary School is an outstanding school. Some of the things that impressed me most were your excellent behaviour and the amazing range of lessons and activities you have," she said.
Head teacher Mr Loncaster is delighted with the report and congratulated everyone who had contributed to the school's success.
"To say I am thrilled is an understatement. To be pronounced as an outstanding school is a major accolade, to be given a grading of 'outstanding' for every single aspect of the inspection is an honour," he said.
"Everyone with any involvement in the school should feel justifiably proud of this achievement, as every aspect of the life and work of the school is celebrated."
Mr Loncaster thanked the teaching staff and teaching assistants, support workers, governors, parents and friends of the school for their help.
But he said ultimately the report is about the pupils, adding: "The pupils at Molescroft Primary School have once again shone brightly, demonstrated their enthusiasm and quite clearly represent all that we hold dear.
“They are not only ambassadors for their families, school and community but represent a beacon of hope and optimism for the future of our country. We are all so proud of them," he said.
